Earlier this year, Dhyana Deepa, the Kannada edition of The Upper Room, hosted a writers’ workshop in South India.

It was a wonderful experience and writers of all ages participated –– from a 7-year-old girl to an 85-year-old man.

The group was small but committed.

Prior to the start of the writers’ workshop, I heard the 7-year-old girl persistently asking her mother for something just outside our door.

I asked what was the matter. The mother told me that her daughter also wanted to join the group. She had told her it was for the adults only.

Seeing her enthusiasm, I invited her to join us. She wrote quite well for her age.

Also, the 85-year-old man who attended told us that his family has used The Upper Room for three generations. He pays for the subscription and mails every issue to his grandchildren.

The writers’ workshop was a great experience and we enjoyed it.
